In Spring 2023, I launched a podcast on the history and global impact of Cuban music. One of my goals is to highlight not only the evolution of music on the island, but also its transnational aspects and the ways it’s been so influential around the world since the early 19th century. As an ethnomusicologist, I’m always interested in “extra-musical” as well as musical aspects, so you’ll also hear discussions of Cuban history, social conditions, and overall cultural commentary. In addition to my own decades of knowledge, I bring on a wide range of scholars & experts to speak about different genres, styles, and artists.
